Our History

The Mobile Preschool operates with 2 fully equipped vehicles. University and TAFE qualified staff members attend each venue. We carry an array of toys, books, puzzles, games, art and craft, easels, tables and chairs, rugs and much much more.

The idea of a mobile preschool first eventuated at a public meeting at Huskisson in March 1976. Money was raised along with a grant and loan from the Shoalhaven City Council and the dream became a reality, commencing in February 1977.

In May 1987 a second service was started with $20,000 fund raised by parents along with the support of Shoalhaven City Council and recurrent funding from the Department of Youth and Community Services.

Central Shoalhaven Mobile Preschool provides care, education and a preschool program for 20 children aged 3 to 5 years at any appropriate venue within 1 hour’s drive of our base at Nowra.

In 2017 the Preschool operates at Community Centres at Cambewarra, Callala Beach, Falls Creek and Huskisson. In years past we have provided a preschool service to Sussex Inlet, St Georges Basin,  Manyana, Tomerong, Currarong, Culburra and Greenwell Point.

In 2019 the Preschool operated at Community Centres at Cambewarra, Callala Beach,  Falls Creek, Huskisson and Manyana.

Central Shoalhaven Mobile Preschool is a community-owned, not for profit service and has been in operation for 44 years in the Shoalhaven. It is one of the longest running Mobile Preschools in NSW.

We are funded by the State Government and licensed under the Department of Education and Communities – Early Childhood Education and Care Grants Program Funding Agreement.
